NEWBURGH – Police believe they have solved the murder of Keyshan
Gayle, the 18-year-old New Windsor man, who was shot late on August 30
outside a deli at the corner of Fullerton Avenue and Third Street in Newburgh.

Authorities arrested Tyler Castro, 22, of Newburgh on Wednesday, October
12 and charged him with murder in the shooting death of Gayle.

The death of the recent Newburgh Free Academy graduate prompted a firestorm
of community protest about street lights and police cameras that were
not working in that neighborhood as well as others in Newburgh.

Newburgh City Police, the State Police Major Crimes Unit and the Orange
County District Attorney’s Office investigated the case.
