Hertman, at the White House in August

WASHINGTON – Following the successful implementation of the Obama Administration’s 21st Century Policing program in the Town of Wallkill, its police chief is back in Washington, DC to meet with law enforcement leaders from around the nation.
Chief Robert Hertman will brief them on Wallkill’s new Police Data Initiative and how it demonstrates the department’s constitutionally sound policing and is actively involved in community engagement.
“I believe, and so does the administration that the more transparent a police agency is, the better the relationship will be with the community and the agency will also be making itself more accountable to the community,” Hertman said.
To do that, Wallkill is placing on its website ongoing statistics about arrests and the composure of the department.
