CRAGSMOOR – Fire Saturday evening damaged a former church, now used as a private residence.
The fire at 12 Meadow Lane in Cragsmoor brought out firefighters from seven departments. Six firefighters were injured and taken to the hospital – two more seriously injured than the others, according to Ulster County EMS Coordinator Richard Muellerleile. Three other firefighters refused treatment.  Heavy smoke made it difficult to initially reach the fire and knock down the flames, authorities said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and unknown. An initial report suggested a propane tank exploded.
