KINGSTON – An inmate at the Ulster County Jail, who was expected to be released, is back behind bars.
The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office Corrections department learned on Monday, September 19 that Erkan Deniz, 31, of Kingston was scheduled to be released, but was wanted by the Bergen County, New Jersey Sheriff’s Office. An active warrant for his arrest had been issued in New Jersey for failure to appear on a charge of violation of a court order.
Deputies took Deniz back into custody and he was held without bail pending an extradition hearing in Ulster County Court.
