GOSHEN – A man, who pled guilty to armed robbery of a Middletown Rite Aid Pharmacy last November, was sentenced Monday in Orange County Court to 10 years in state prison. Romaine Brown, 28, of Middletown, was also given five years of post-release supervision by Judge Robert Freehill .
Brown admitted that he stole money from the store on Fulton Street by threatening two female cashiers with a knife. When one of them attempted to call for help, Brown cut the cord on the phone she was using.
Brown was apprehended by Middletown Police and found in possession of cash stolen from the store and a knife.
“Our community will be safer during the decade that this defendant is in state prison,” said District Attorney David Hoovler.” The threatened use of a weapon, whether it is a gun or a knife, can have life-altering consequences to victims. Those who go to work are entitled to be safe from threats of violence.”
Hoovler pledged to “seek severe sentences against those who possess and threaten the use of deadly weapons.”
