PORT JERVIS – Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, part of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network, Tuesday provided the details of its planned $46 million redevelopment project to bring more advanced healthcare to the Tri-State region of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The state kicked in $24.5 million, while the Bon Secours Charity Health System, will contribute the remaining $20 million.
Bon Secours President Dr. Mary Leahy said the medical village will bring greater healthcare services to community.
“This joint venture represents an unparalleled opportunity to enhance the quality of services for the people in the region and will preserve and expand local healthcare,” Leahy said.
Westchester Medical Center Health Network President Michael Israel said the facilities will improve healthcare, but also boost the local economy.
“There will be more jobs created. We will use more goods and services so we will be an economic driver, and we make this community and surrounding the communities stronger, more vital and economically sound,” Israel said.
Community partners in the medical village, Cornerstone Family Healthcare,
and the Orange County Department of Mental Health Services, will offer
services to include dental care, pediatrics, women’s health and
mental health.
The hospital submitted its application for a certificate of need to the state health department. Construction is expected to begin next May with completion in 22 months.
