MIDDLETOWN – Every winter the City of Middletown becomes infested with crows attacking garbage and soiling sidewalks and buildings with their droppings.
Officials want to get a jump on the bird problem and Mayor Joseph DeStefano said they are exploring a number of ways to do that.
“Every winter we get the crows and we are trying to do things that will not welcome them as much as in the past where open garbage lay in the streets or on the side of the street where they will come in and rip open the bag,” DeStefano said. “We are looking at ways to keep the streets cleaner, not just the season of the crows, but year-round.”
Those prevention methods may include requiring certain types of garbage receptacles that would be crow-proof.
