PORT JERVIS – A Bronx man is in the Orange County Jail after his arrest in connection with last Friday’s burglary at a residence on Lumber Street in Port Jervis.
Alert residents tipped off city police that a man was seen leaving the residence while carrying valuables. Officers arrested Nguyen Baez, 32, of the Bronx and charged him with felony burglary and petit larceny as a misdemeanor.
Baez allegedly broke into the residence while the homeowner was not present and stolen electronics and other valuables.  He was jailed in lieu of $15,000 bail pending further court action.
Police credit the alert neighbors for quickly reporting the crime that led to the rapid apprehension of the suspect.
