Brooklyn man drowns in Delaware River

BARRYVILLE – An Brooklyn man drowned in the Delaware River near the Kittatinny Campground in Barryville on Saturday. The body was recovered on Sunday.
Police said Jonathan Hernandez, 18, was attempting to swim across the river without a personal flotation device when he became fatigued and slipped below the surface. Search efforts continued until dusk on Saturday and resumed Sunday. 
A Police dive team and the National Park Service were assisted by the Town of Highland Constables, American Legion Ambulance, Yulan Fire Department, Town of Lumberland Fire Department and Highland Lake Fire Department.
