WHITE PLAINS – The Westchester County Board of Legislators is expected to vote against a proposal that would create 10 commercial boa anchorages on the Hudson River between Yonkers and Kingston.
The resolution is sponsored by Republican Minority Leader John Testa. He said on Tuesday that he is “absolutely opposed to allowing our beautiful and historic Hudson River to become a parking lot for dozens of barges laden with volatile and toxic petroleum products. He said communities along the river “have worked hard for decades to reclaim our waterfronts from post-industrial wastelands and turned them into open spaces, trailways, housing and retail centers.”
Municipalities up and down the river have let their opposition to the proposal be known to federal officials.
