RAMAPO – A former Ramapo town councilwoman, who served for 24 years,
has died. She was 84.

Fran Hunter was sworn into office on January 1, 1988 and won reelection
several times. She retired in December 2011.

She continued to serve the community as a member of the town police commission.

Hunter also enjoyed a long career as a teacher, retiring as principal
of Eldorado in the East Ramapo School District.

“Fran Hunter always put the interests of her community first and
was always willing to go the extra mile to help anyone in need. This was
evident during her years as a teacher and as principal of Eldorado Elementary
School,” said Rockland County Legislator Aron Wieder.
