NEWBURGH – The money to build a skateboard park in Newburgh is in the city budget, but it cannot be spent just yet.
The funds are part of the federal Housing and Urban Development commitment
to the city, but they cannot be freed up until environmental studies have
been completed, said City Manager Michael Ciaravino.
“We have the HUD monies and frankly are waiting for these environmental reviews and approval. Under the federal HUD program we need to do the environmental assessment,” Ciaravino said. “I fully expect that once the approvals are given and we have the green light, we are going to move as quickly as possible to get the skateboard park constructed.”
The park, to be built at the Delano-Hitch Recreation Center, is estimated to cost some $650,000.
