NEW PALTZ – A Middletown man was arrested following his arrest on domestic abuse charges.
New Paltz Police said Cary Straub, 36, was charged with criminal contempt and aggravated family offense, both as felonies.
Officers were called to Route 32 North in the Town of New Paltz at 6:15 a.m. on August 12 for a report of a couple arguing on the side of the road.  When officers arrived, Straub, fled, but was located by police hiding in the woods nearby.
Officers learned the two were involved in a domestic dispute and that Straub had violated an order of protection and then crashed his car trying to leave the area.
