POUGHKEEPSIE – Part-time Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff Rosario
Scavelli, employed by Sheriff Butch Anderson since 2008, has been fired
after the deputy was arrested by federal agents on a warrant, Captain
John Watterson said.

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman said Homeland Security
Investigations in New York led to the arrest of Scavelli on August 11
for violations related to the possession of marijuana for sale and the
production of marijuana.

The investigation was conducted jointly by Homeland Security Investigations
and the Drug Enforcement Agency and is being prosecuted by the Pima County
District Attorney’s Office in Arizona.
