WHITE PLAINS – Students attending Westchester Community College this fall will see no increase in their tuition. The $2,140 rate per semester for a full-time county resident will remain the same as the County Board of Legislators on Monday adopted the college’s $122.5 million 2016-17 budget.
The county’s roughly 30 percent portion is $3.8 million, up $500,000 from last year’s contribution, said legislature Chairman Michael Kaplowitz.
“We hear nothing but wonderful things at the college. Literally people’s lives are changed for the better when they go to Westchester Community College, and for the fourth year in a row, it will cost no more in tuition for each and every one of those 24,000 students,” Kaplowitz said.
Five capital projects funded by the budget to the tune of $3.8 million include technology upgrades to the main and satellite campuses, roof replacements and infrastructure upgrades.
