TOWN OF WALLKILL – Police are scouring the Wallkill/Middletown
area this morning for a suspect in the robbery of the Chase Bank branch
on Route 211 in the Orange Plaza parking lot.

Police said a man walked into the bank and handed a teller a note that
he had a gun and demanded money.

He made off with an undetermined amount of cash.

Wallkill Police Chief Robert Hertman said man was white, in his 20s, about
180 pounds, about six-foot, one-inch tall, wearing a black baseball cap,
black long sleeve shirt, black sneakers and khaki pants and sunglasses.

He fled on foot.

Hertman said Wallkill Police are working with State Police and Middletown
City Police to determine if this robbery is linked to other bank robberies
that have occurred in the area recently. Last week, in the Town of Wawayanda
on the other side of Middletown, a man walked into a bank and demanded
money. He is still at large.
