POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Industrial Development Agency is going to put a local labor policy in place for economic development projects it funds.
IDA Chairman Charles Daniels said any policy that is adopted must be fair to all parties involved.
“You have to find a balance between being fair to the taxpayers, being fair to the applicants, all while trying to accomplish our main goal, which is to create jobs,” Daniels said.
The Dutchess IDA is taking an idea from the Orange County IDA, which recently hired accounting firms to ensure that most of the jobs on funded projects are filled by residents of the Mid-Hudson Valley region.
