Two arrested in Middletown area drug busts

MIDDLETOWN – Two people were arrested on drug charges with illegal substances seized.
A warrant search on Amy Lane in the Town of Wallkill led to the arrest of Giovonnie Perez, 30, on two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance as felonies.  He was found in possession of 110 glassine envelopes of heroin, 74.6 grams of loose, unpackaged heroin, 78 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine along with 32 Oxycodone pills and over $10,000 in cash.  The street value of the heroin recovered is some $25,000 and the value of the crack cocaine is approximately $7,600.
The second warrant was at a residence on Spruce Road in the Town of Mount Hope. Arrested was Paula Mercurio, 26, of Spruce Road. She was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance.  She was found in possession of 45 glassine envelopes of heroin.
The investigation and arrests were made by Middletown City Police with assistance from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group, State Police and the FBI Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force.
