NIVERVILLE – Armed with a search warrant, Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies and State Police arrested a Niverville man on drug charges.
Jacob Ebel, 30, was charged with intent to illegally sell narcotic drugs as a felony.  Ebel was placed in the Columbia County Jail without bail.
The month-long investigation resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of heroin, cocaine, LSD, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia. The heroin has a reported street value of some $5,000.  Also recovered in the home was $400 in cash.
The recent deaths from opioid use in the northern Columbia County area led to the investigation and Ebel’s arrest.
Assisting with the search warrant were District Attorney Paul Czjka and the DA’s Office as well as the Columbia Greene Shared Services Response Team.
The investigation is continuing and police said further charges are possible.
