Passenger injured when tire blows out on Jeep traveling on Taconic

A tire blow out is believed to have caused this Jeep to flip over
twice
injuring the two people inside

TOWN OF CLAVERACK – A 15-year-old female passenger riding in a Jeep
driven by a 17-year-old young man from Tivoli, was flown to Albany Medical
Center with internal injuries after a front passenger side tire blew out
causing the vehicle to run off the Taconic State Parkway in Columbia County
and roll over twice. It landed upright.

The driver, Parker Levenson of Tivoli, was also taken to Albany Med for
evaluation.

A witness driving behind Levenson reported what had happened around 6:30
p.m. on Friday, July 22 on the Taconic just south of Route 23.

No tickets were issued to the driver.

Greenport Rescue Squad and Churchtown Fire Company assisted at the scene.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
