Some legislators say the sports project might be a better bet
for the Nevele than a casino

KINGSTON – The latest plan to revive the dormant Nevele Resort in the Town of Wawarsing has the support of the Ulster County Legislature.
Lawmakers voted 20 to zero Tuesday night on a memorializing resolution sponsored by Democrat Thomas Briggs, whose district includes the property.
“Long-lasting impacts on this county,” Briggs said.  “It will affect a region, I feel, between 30 to 45 miles in radius around the Village of Ellenville.  This is a great thing.”
The resolution notes the proposed $15 million Nevele Resort, Spa and ProSport Campus will create over 2,200 jobs during construction and over 1,000 new jobs for ongoing operations.
In other business during the monthly legislative session, lawmakers approved a $300,000 bond for a technology upgrade at SUNY Ulster, and to provide a deputy sheriff as a school resource officer at the county BOCES.
