GOSHEN – The Orange County Department of Public Works granted conditional approval on Monday for the Village of Kiryas Joel to construct the last 60 feet of water line along County Road 44 between Mountain Road and Route 32 in the Town of Cornwall.
The majority of the water main from the village’s well in Cornwall has been completed and the 60-foot section along the county road is part of a total of 1,700 feet of pipeline that will complete the project.
Work on this section will be performed by J. D’Annunzio and Sons of Clark, New Jersey.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation approved up to 650,000 gallons per day to be drawn from the well.
The final stage of the project, a six-and-a-half to seven-mile section to connect it to the aqueduct, is some two years off, a village official said.
