TOWN OF HYDE PARK – A two-alarm fire in the Fairview Fire District in the Town of Hyde Park Friday afternoon caused heavy damage to the structure at 80 West Dorsey Lane.
A structure in the rear and a vehicle were in danger of catching fire, but firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the original building.
A dog was rescued by firefighters.
Friday’s high temperatures and humidity made the firefighting operations more difficult than usual requiring a rehab are being set up for firefighters.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene. No occupants were injured in the fire. They were assisted by the Red Cross since the house will not be habitable in the near future.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Agencies assisting at the scene included fire departments from the City of Poughkeepsie, Roosevelt, Pleasant Valley, Hyde Park, and Lagrange, as well as Mobile Life Support Services, Hyde Park Police, State Police, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response and the Hyde Park fire inspector.  West Clinton and Highland firefighters relocated to Fairview.
