LIBERTY – A woman, who had recently been in a car accident and was on pain medication, may have taken too much and passed out at the Travis building in Liberty on Monday, but a quick thinking Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputy saved her life by administering Narcan. That’s the medication used to revive opioid abusers.
Immediately after Deputy Elwin Wood administered the medication to the 49-year-old woman, she regained consciousness and was taken to Catskill Regional Medical Center by Mobile Medic Ambulance.
Sheriff Michael Schiff praised Wood’s actions and thanked the Sullivan County Public Health Division for providing the training and supplies of Narcan that have saved the lives of several people over the past year.
