Newburgh man charged with firing gun outside nightclub

NEWBURGH – A Newburgh man was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with firing a gun in front of a nightclub.
Axel Ramirez-Jacinto, 21, was arrested by Newburgh City Police around 4:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 10 on Dickson Street, not far from the Escandola Nightclub at 2 Commercial Place. That’s where police were called to a report of shots being fired.
When officers spotted Jacinto, they saw him toss away something that looked like a gun. They found a .25 caliber pistol in grass on the side of the road near him.
Jacinto was identified as the shooter and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment, both as felonies, and a misdemeanor of menacing.
There were no victims reported as a result of the shooting.
