NEWBURGH – Police are investigating the death of a man whose body
was found in the courtyard pathway of St. Mary’s Church in Newburgh.
City Police responded to a call of a man down at 8:38 a.m. Tuesday near
180 South Street.
They found Stephen Sampson, 28, of Newburgh, dead on the ground.
Police said preliminary investigation uncovered no evidence of external
injuries.
A joint investigation is underway by the Newburgh Police and Orange County
District Attorney’s Office.
