BUCHANAN – The Indian Point unit two nuclear power plant was restored to service Monday afternoon, sending electricity to the grid.
The unit was shut down on Friday to complete weld repairs to a pipe and to allow workers from Con Edison to test a breaker in a switchyard located near the plant.
The breaker can be tested only while electricity from unit two is not being sent to the Con-Ed-owned switchyard.
Opponents to the continued operation of Indian Point said this latest disruption is further proof that the plants should not be relicensed.
