BETHEL – Two local men were arrested by authorities following an investigation into the sale of drugs at a residence on Gaynor Road in the Town of Bethel.  A warrant search on Friday turned up heroin packaged for sale, seven pounds of marijuana and approximately $15,000 in cash.
Arrested were Florencio Torres, 40, of Bethel and Joseph Steuhmer, 45, of Monticello.
Torres was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of marijuana, both as felonies, and criminally using drug paraphernalia as a misdemeanor. He is in the Sullivan County Jail without bail. He was free on bail from a prior drug arrest in May. That case is pending.
Steuhmer was charged with misdemeanor drug possession and unlawful possession of marijuana.  He is being held in lieu of $7,500 cash bail.
State Police were assisted by the FBI, Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office, and police from Liberty and Monticello, as well the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.
