HILLBURN – The fire that engulfed an Orange and Rockland Utilities
substation on Torn Valley Road in Hillburn Friday night was reported to
be under control by mid-day Saturday.
Ramapo Town Police reported Saturday that the fire would be allowed to
burn out which could take another 24-hours.
Power was still on at the substation. Once the fire was out, O&R would
determine the best course of action to take to begin repairs.
Once repairs begin, there may be power outages in the region, but how
long and to what extent was not immediately known.
