Fettes, left, receives honor from Barrett in 2012

POUGHKEEPSIE – Former Dutchess County Legislator Margaret Fettes
has died, County Executive Marcus Molinaro said Wednesday. She was 90.
Fettes represented the Millbrook/Washington/Amenia area in the legislature for many years.
“I had the pleasure of working with her during my time in the county legislature and always held her in high regard,” Molinaro said. “Margret was a truly kind-hearted woman who believes in the importance of community service and made a long-lasting commitment to it.” He said the county is “grateful for the impact she made on Dutchess County.”
In 2012, State Assemblywoman Didi Barrett of Hudson presented her with
her award for the Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen.
“Margaret Fettes is a pillar of our community and her tireless work has been critical to Dutchess County for many years,” Barrett said at the time. “Women like Margaret Fettes make our communities what they are today and they deserve our utmost gratitude. She is an inspiration to all of us.”
Molinaro has directed all county government facility flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of the former legislator. They will remain lowered until interment.
