KINGSTON – Mayor Steven Noble would like to see the redevelopment the Kingston School District’s Cioni administration building as a boutique hotel.  A developer has offered such a proposal, but the school board has yet to decide if it wants to sell the building.
Kingston’s mayor believes reuse the building at 61 Crown Street would be an economic shot in the arm for the Uptown area.
“When we can repurpose an existing building and turn it into something that we need in Uptown Kingston, I think, is where we are going to prioritize our efforts and working with those that want to put this boutique hotel in as well as the school district making sure that we can get them to decide once and for all whether they are staying or going, and hopefully relocating their main offices to a school or somewhere else so that that unique building can be turned into something pretty amazing,” Noble said.
Voters have given their okay for the district to sell the Cioni building, but it has not been placed on the market.
