Neuhaus on site in March, looking at plans

GOSHEN – After years of lying fallow, the Orange County-owned Camp LaGuardia property is on the road to redevelopment.
The county legislature voted Thursday to appropriate $1.2 million to the county’s Real Property Office to buy out the contract of the private developer, who was sitting on the land without doing anything to it.
The proposal is the brainchild of County Executive Steven Neuhaus.
“It is something that will be beneficial to the local communities, the greater county, and also put it back on the tax rolls,” Neuhaus said. “I look forward to working with the legislature as well as the Town of Blooming Grove and Town of Chester as we move forward on something positive that we can all be proud of.”
The county exec envisions business park development and other light commercial uses for the property that once housed a New York City facility for homeless men.
