TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE –
Nonna’s Pizzeria in the 44 Plaza at 51 Burnett Boulevard in the
Town of Poughkeepsie, sustained significant damage in a fire that broke
out around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Arlington firefighters were able to stop the blaze from spreading to other businesses in the strip mall. The adjacent H&R Block, Radio Shack, and liquor store were forced to close due to water damage and/or damage to the building’s electrical service, said Arlington Fire Chief Tory Gallante. The adjacent laundromat suffered water damage, but was able to reopen.

Fire was confined to the pizzeria but adjacent businesses sustained some smoke and water damage

Three firefighters and one police officer sustained minor injuries. Two of the firefighters were treated at the hospital and released. The other two first responders were treated at the scene.
Assisting at the scene of the two-alarm fire were firefighters from the City of Poughkeepsie, Fairview, LaGrange, as well as Town of Poughkeepsie Police, water and Building departments, Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response and Central Hudson.  New Hamburg, Pleasant Valley and Wappingers Falls firefighters relocated equipment to cover Arlington stations.
The fire remains under investigation by the Arlington Fire District Investigation Division and Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department.
