PORT EWEN – Lashawn Brickhouse, 28, of Port Ewen was initially arrested last Wednesday on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession and use of marijuana. But, when police searched his home while armed with a warrant, they found two pounds of marijuana and an assault rifle.
As a result, Brickhouse was also charged with criminal possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a weapon, both as felonies.
State Police had responded to a report of a partially clothed two-year-old
child wandering around the area of Route 9W in Port Ewen. Police found
the child was his three-year-old daughter and that Brickhouse was asleep
inside.  When they knocked on the door they found evidence of marijuana
possession and use inside.
Brickhouse is in the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
