Unfulfilled potential

NEW WINDSOR – The role of the Orange County Industrial Development Agency is to provide financial incentives to businesses located in the county and creating jobs. The goal of the Stewart Airport Commission is to provide advice and consent to the State Department of Transportation, the landlord of the airport, which is operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
The two local agencies will be putting their heads together to see how
they can work to benefit the economy.
The IDA has reached out to new SAC Chairman Louis Heimbach about collaborating.
“The key here is getting new airlines here which in turn will certainly stimulate the economy of the county,” the chairman said.
Heimbach has been a longtime member and vice chairman of the Stewart commission. He was elected chairman earlier this year after James Wright, the chairman for over 30 years, retired from that post. He remains a commission member.
