NEW YORK – While a lot more people will be driving this holiday weekend, because of the lowest gasoline prices in years, more people are also expected to travel through the Port Authority’s airports by the time this Memorial Day weekend is over than did last year.
The agency expects some 800,000 passengers to travel through John F. Kennedy International Airport, approximately 489,400 to travel through Newark Liberty International, an estimated 370,900 to travel through LaGuardia Airport, a projected 17,100 to travel through Atlantic City International, and 3,800 through Stewart International.
During the weekend, the Port Authority has added customer care representatives to assist travelers and the TSA added staff to help reduce the long wait times during screening. But, if you are traveling, you are still advised to get to the airport two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights.
