GARDINER – Former Ulster County Legislator Jack Hayes announced he is running for State Assembly in the 103rd District on the Republican and Conservative lines. That seat is currently held by Democrat Kevin Cahill, who is seeking another term.
“There is a great need to restore honesty, decency and integrity in the New York State Legislature,” Hayes said. “The current legislator has had ample time to address the culture of corruption but has instead aligned himself with the most blatant abusers.”
Hayes said he will serve as “the citizens’ representative.” He pledged to communicate with municipal leaders in the district and “will enlist federal officials to create policy that not only treats the effects of the heroin but sanctions those countries of origin who produce the poison that kills our children.”
Hayes is a retired member of the State Police and also served as Gardiner town supervisor.
