Port Ewen man stabbed to death; suspect arrested on train in Washington, DC

SAUGERTIES – A 40-year-old Village of Saugerties man was stabbed
to death early Thursday morning in the Capri Motel in Port Ewen and his
alleged killer was taken into custody hours later on an Amtrak train in
Washington, DC.

Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra said Rameen Perry, was found in
residence at 8A Malden Avenue in the Village of Saugerties at around 3:23
a.m. He had sustained several stab wounds and died shortly after arrival
to the Health Alliance Hospital Broadway Campus in Kingston.

The suspect, Earl Edwards, 26, of old Stage Road in Saugerties, fled the
scene before police arrived.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m., he was located on a passenger train in Washington
and taken into custody by plain clothes members of Amtrak Police.
