ELLENVILLE – State Police charged a Cragsmoor man with attempted murder of a police officer after he allegedly fired at troopers from inside a residence on Tuesday.
Police responded to the private home after receiving a 911 call of several unwanted people attempting to gain access. The caller, Cory Larson, 32, asked that police assist him. But, when officers arrived, they were met with gunshots coming from inside the home.
After an exchange of gunfire with Larson, he came out of the house unarmed.
It was determined he was the only one in the home and there was no indication
of anyone else at the scene.
Larson was taken into custody without further incident. He was charged with attempted murder of a police officer, reckless endangerment, and menacing a police officer, all as felonies, and a misdemeanor of criminal possession of a weapon.  He is in the Ulster County Jail without bail.
