KINGSTON – It was the sink hole to end all sink holes in Kingston. A seven-foot sink hole developed in early 2012 following storms. Under Washington Avenue, a giant storm water tunnel was eroding, causing the huge hole resulting in the street being blocked off.
Monday morning, city crews removed the roadblocks allowing traffic to flow from Route 32 to the traffic circle.
The work to stabilize the road and the underground infrastructure cost millions, much of which was funded with federal dollars.
