MONTICELLO – A Delaware man was arrested on Saturday by Monticello Village Police on a charge of felony weapon possession.
At 1:40 a.m., officers were called to a report of a disturbance with an unconscious man in the parking lot outside building 21 at the Sleepy Hollow apartment complex on Terry Lane.
An officer and his K-9 arrived and observed Steven Barone of Camden Wyoming, Delaware standing next to a car in a parking lot and holding what appeared to be a handgun. When Barone saw the officer, he tossed the weapon into the trunk of the car and began to walk away. He was stopped and the weapon, a loaded .22 caliber handgun, was recovered from the trunk.
The assault victim was transported to Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris where he was treated for a head concussion and later released.
Barone was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
