GOSHEN – A “non-specific, non-credible threat” was called in Monday morning at the Amy Bull Crist Education Center in Goshen, prompting Orange-Ulster BOCES officials to implement their emergency management plan while law enforcement was notified.
District Superintendent William Hecht said once the Orange County Sheriff’s Office gave an “all clear,” programs resumed their normal schedule.
“Be assured that we consider the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff our primary responsibility and will always ‘err’ on the side of extreme caution,” Hecht said in a letter to parents and guardians.
He said BOCES continues to have sheriff’s deputies at the Goshen campus during the school day in addition to their own security staff.
The incident happened on a day in which scores of similar threats were called in to schools in several states, and in the United Kingdom.
