Name of girl killed in I-84 PA crash released

WESTFALL TOWNSHIP, PA – State Police in Pennsylvania released the name of the young girl killed in an Interstate 84 accident on Monday afternoon as Brooke Piemonte, 6, of Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania.  She was a kindergarten student in the Wallenpaupack Area School District
Brooke was in the back seat, not wearing a seatbelt, when the car driven in Westfall Township by Tammy Mathisen, 44, of Lackawaxen, crashed into the rear of a car that was stopped in traffic because of construction.    The crash happened in the eastbound lanes about two miles from the New York State line.
The child was transported to Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis where she was pronounced dead.
The drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Two passengers in the car that was struck, driven by a Norwich, Connecticut woman, were both in restrains and not injured.
