POUGHKEEPSIE – The City of Poughkeepsie is back on an equal footing with the Town, on the Water Board that serves both municipalities.
In what amounts to a compromise, Common Council Chairman Christopher Petsas will be the city’s third member, after his appointment was unanimously approved Monday night, with Petsas abstaining.
Previously, the council had voted to appoint an outsider, but that was vetoed by Mayor Robert Rolison.
Council Vice Chair Natasha Cherry said that is when Petsas stepped forward.
“Will make our Water Board complete,” Cherry said.  “We’ll have our three members and it will be three-three with the town.  The town will no longer have the majority vote.”
Mayor Rolison was pleased with the outcome.
“I’d just like to thank the council for getting together, and I’d also like, on this issue, and also, want to thank Chairman Petsas for coming on the Water Board,” Rolison said.
In other business, the council approved with little discussion the following bond resolutions:

$1.9 million for the Creek Road Intersection improvement project
$800,000 for replacing and repairing the heating and air conditioning system at City Hall
$590,000 for City Hall roof replacement

A resolution to finance repair of the Financial Plaza parking deck was pulled from the agenda.
