GOSHEN – Some of Orange County’s top elected officials could see pay raises, but not before the next election cycle for those posts in November 2017.
On Monday, the county legislature’s Personnel and Compensation Committee began the discussion of the potential raises for county executive, county legislature and county clerk.
Lawmakers will revisit a previous study of salaries, possible raises tied to the percentage raises received by union employees, and committee Chairman John Vero said they will look at what other counties pay their top officials.
“We will also look in comparison to other counties – Sullivan County, Rockland County, Dutchess County – see what our staff does and what we really do and what they do in other counties; try to be fair about it,” Vero said.
