WHITE PLAINS – A Mount Vernon woman was found guilty in Westchester County Court identity theft.
Simone Barrett Johnson, 29, was convicted of identity theft by assuming another’s identity as a felony, and unlawful possession of personal information and petit larceny, both as felonies.
Between February 20 and 23, 2014, Johnson assumed the identity of the victim, an Ohio resident, by using her personal identifying information.  That information was used in the theft of the victim’s Marion Community Credit Union debit card number which was used to pay Johnson’s $181 cable TV bill and to buy shoes online costing $342.
Johnson used the name of the victim, but put her Mount Vernon address as the shipping location to receive the shoes.
The victim notified Marion City Police, who notified Mount Vernon Police. Johnson was tracked down and arrested.
Witnesses from Ohio and Kentucky testified at the trial.
The victim earns some $400 per week and the financial loss from the thefts was $533. Due to the nature of the theft, the money cannot be credited back to the victim of her credit union.
Johnson is in the Westchester County Jail. She faces up to four years in state prison when sentenced.
