Serino: Term limits

POUGHKEEPSIE – Freshman State Senator Susan Serino (R-Hyde Park)
Thursday announced that she will seek a second two-year term in the November
election.

Flanked by Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro and Poughkeepsie
Mayor Robert Rolison, Serino said in her year-and-a-half in Albany, lawmakers
have accomplished much, but more needs to be done, including ethics reform.

Serino, who was a Dutchess County legislator before running for the Senate
seat, supports term limits.
“With all of the corruption going on and some of the other situations,
I think it has to happen,” she said.
Serino, though, said the Democrat-controlled Assembly will block the
plan.

The proposal would see term limits of three, four-year terms for Assembly
and Senate members.
The man Serino defeated less than two years ago, Democrat Terry Gipson,
is expected to win his seat back.
