MONTICELLO – The man shot to death late Sunday night has been identified
as Trevor Sasso, 32, of Monticello.

Monticello Police on Tuesday released details of the incident. Village
officers were assisting state troopers at a vehicle and traffic stop on
North Street near the intersection of Landfield Avenue when they hear
several gunshots in close proximity to their location.

Within minutes, Sullivan County 911 received a report of a possible gunshot
victim at 33 Landfield. That is where they found Sasso, who was pronounced
dead at the scene by Sullivan County Coroner Alan Kesten.

An autopsy performed on Monday at Catskill Regional Medical Center confirmed
that Sasso died from a gunshot wound.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to
call Monticello Police in confidence at 845-794-4422.
