MONTICELLO – SUNY Sullivan President Dr. Karin Hilgersom’s final major task before leaving that position at the end of the month is preparing a 2016-17 budget.
“It does represent a round of cuts that we worked on for the last four or five months,” Hilgersom told the County Legislature’s Government Services Committee on Thursday.  That has been an ongoing discussion with the Professional Staff Association for a few months, she said, adding they were “… trying to be as responsible as we possibly can.”
Hilgersom said there will be good news for students.
“Very thankful to the Board of Trustees for keeping tuition identical to what it was this year; we are not raising tuition,” Hilgersom said.
The county legislature will consider and vote on its share of the budget in June.
