AMENIA – A man was struck and killed by a vehicle as he was apparently in the northbound lane of Route 22 in the Town of Amenia.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a car/pedestrian accident around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3. Deputies found Theodore Miles, Jr., 52, of Amenia lying in the road with serious injuries. He was transported to Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Preliminary investigation revealed a New York City man driving a car encountered Miles in the roadway. He unsuccessfully attempted to avoid the victim.
